Napoli, Milinkovic-Savic decisive: Has Conte found his starter?

Milinkovic-Savic was decisive in the away victory against Lecce. Meret’s injury opens the door to the new starter for Napoli.
After a start to the season where there was a continuous alternation in goal, Antonio Conte seems to have found his starter. Not all bad things come to harm, and in this case the unfortunate injury to Meret is bringing consistency to Milinkovic-Savic‘s performances.
Already in the match against Inter the Serbian goalkeeper was the protagonist of a crucial save on a close-range shot by Lautaro Martinez. Yesterday he stood out by saving a penalty from young Camarda, becoming a determining factor in Napoli’s victory.

Napoli, Milinkovic-Savic the new number 1
Alex Meret will be out of action for quite some time. During his absence, Milinkovic-Savic will have more minutes to show his value, after which a full evaluation can be made.
The former Torino goalkeeper has unique characteristics, being equipped with exceptional distribution and footwork. His long kicks can be utilized by Napoli to attack depth with the speed of forwards like Hojlund or Neres, or to take a breather in moments of fatigue as he did in the match against Inter.
The Serbian goalkeeper is proving to be up to the task of a city like Naples, and we will see if in these upcoming matches he can earn the starting position for the rest of the season.

After a difficult start to the season, Marco Baroni’s Torino has found results and performances. The Granata, facing Bologna this week, come to the match against the Rossoblù in good form.
After a complicated season start, Marco Baroni seems to have found the right formula to make Torino perform. The Granata team has regained points and performances since they started defending more, giving up an attacking winger in favor of a defender. The return to a back three, and the simultaneous use of Che Adams alongside Simeone, has been successful. In just a few weeks, the team has gone from the specter of relegation to being able to aim for more than just a mid-table placement.
It may still be too early to change objectives at Torino, but there is no doubt that the Granata will arrive at the match against Bologna, scheduled for Wednesday night, in good health and confidence, after two consecutive victories. The game at the Dall’Ara will be a test to measure Toro’s growth.

The former Lazio, coach, despite arriving in the summer to bring a more offensive style, understood the team’s difficulties in defending with a back four, and therefore opted for a pragmatic 3-5-2. A formation that brings out the best in many players in the Granata squad.
For example, Nikola Vlasic, one of the highest-quality players available to Baroni. The Croatian didn’t shine in the false attacking winger role, while in the quality central midfielder role, he can once again become a factor. Alongside Casadei and Asllani, he forms a well-coordinated midfield trio.
The same group of wingers, from Pedersen to Lazaro through the new arrival Nkounkou, are players not inclined to defend, and therefore struggle in a back four line. With a back three to cover them, they can be much more effective, as seen in the recent matches against Napoli and Genoa.
But the defensive unit that has benefited the most from the “return to the past” is precisely the defensive line: the inclusion of Tameze, and/or Ismajli, has allowed Coco and Maripan to return to the levels of the previous season.

Damien Comolli, Juventus’s technical director, allegedly made serious accusations against Igor Tudor, leading to the Croatian coach’s dismissal. According to Schira’s reconstruction, Comolli accused Tudor of failing to enhance the new acquisitions, such as Openda and David, who were key elements the management relied on to strengthen the team. The main accusation was related to the management of human resources, with confusion in the selection of the lineup and excessive player rotation leading to disappointing results on the field.

Under Tudor’s guidance, the team showed signs of decline, losing the necessary control to maintain a competitive position. The disappointing results and lack of a clear strategy prompted the management to intervene, resulting in the decision to dismiss the coach. This situation has sparked discussions on how to handle the team’s future and the need for a change in leadership to avoid further damage.
