Parma, Cuesta: “Sometimes precision was lacking, there were problems but we created a lot in some games without converting”
Parma coach Carlos Cuesta spoke tonight in a press conference at the end of the 2-2 draw against Milan at the Tardini Stadium. Among the topics discussed were the match against the Rossoneri, how beneficial this result could be, and the return to the 3-5-2 system.
Regarding how beneficial this result could be, especially with the upcoming international break:
“I don’t know how much, I can’t quantify it, but I know this is our group, this is our team. We don’t take anything lightly, we see it in every action of every player. Sometimes mistakes can be made or things may not go well, but it will never be because of a lack of will or effort. I know how much everyone puts in and I am certain they will continue to grow constantly. Growth is not linear, there are highs and lows, but we will know how to face difficulties because this group gives everything, both those on the field and those who don’t play.”
You had the issue of scoring goals, today you created several opportunities against Milan, who usually don’t concede much:
“Sometimes precision was lacking, there were problems but we created a lot in some games without converting. That was the difference, we are on a path of growth, today we did some things better and managed to get into the final third and be effective. We want to do it more often in every game.”
How do you explain the approach followed by a great reaction:
“We approached the game from the start with the desire to be aggressive and proactive, but as events unfolded, the game changed. We corrected some things but above all changed the spirit and brought out the heart of this group. From those who play to those who support without playing, even the injured players, everyone pushes in the same direction and this was seen on the field. It was a group reaction, everyone helps each other to be the best version.”
Why did you return to the 3-5-2 system:
“We have done it in the past, we were already used to it. The principles of the game have never changed, not even when we played with 4 at the back. Today this formation suited the opponents’ characteristics better, in the second half they switched to 4-4-2 and we had to make some adjustments. The main reason for this choice was based on the opponent.”
Do you have any regrets about not starting Troilo from the beginning?
“No, choices are always made thinking that they are the best. Evaluating them later is easy, at the time I felt that was the right choice, just as at halftime I felt that the substitution was the right choice.”
What dictated the substitution of Ndiaye:
“It was a tactical choice, I have done it before. Troilo was ready to make a positive contribution to the team, so we made this choice.”
You could have also won, did you think about it?
“At the end of the game there was a lot of regret, we always want to win. There were situations and moments where we felt close. We tried until the end, even when we were struggling and at risk of conceding goals, even on some of their counterattacks, which we need to learn to stop earlier in the opponent’s half. There is a bit of regret but we will be able to take the positive aspect of this point. We will analyze everything that was done well and everything that did not work, we know the importance of the upcoming challenges and we must make the most of the training sessions during the break.”
In the second half, you spoke at length with Cutrone, how do you evaluate his performance?
“Cutrone always gives his all, he is a heart player, he absolutely gives everything for the team. He always tries to make himself available to the team, he works very hard. He is a great professional, a great example for others, having someone in the team who behaves like this helps a lot.”

Serie A: Three Decisive Matches in the 12th Round
The 12th round of Serie A offers three very important matches: on Saturday there will be Fiorentina-Juventus and Napoli-Atalanta, on Sunday the Inter-Milan derby.
Juventus aims to continue its growth and demonstrate that it can become competitive again, and it can do so on the field against Fiorentina.
However, Fiorentina always plays with great intensity at home and wants to take advantage of the opportunity to stop Juventus and earn valuable points.
Napoli faces Atalanta in a match that could say a lot about the ambitions of both teams. The Neapolitans seek confirmation after a fluctuating period and know that a victory can put them back in the running for the top spot.
Atalanta arrives with the desire to react, and this match could be a turning point: if they play without fear, they can create many difficulties for Napoli, but another misstep could complicate their season.
The derby between Inter and Milan is the central match of the day. Inter wants to confirm its strength and use the game to extend its lead over other contenders. Milan, on the other hand, sees the derby as an opportunity to change pace, regroup, and relaunch its ambitions.
In a match like this, motivation is as important as quality. A victory in the derby can completely change the week and the mood of a team.
These three matches of the 12th round of Serie A will be very important to understand the state of the teams. Juventus must play well to come back stronger. Napoli must win to stay among the top teams. The Inter-Milan derby will be decisive: the winner gains confidence, the loser gets discouraged. In general, it will be a day of exciting matches where anything can happen.

Juventus, Vlahović doubtful for Florence: Is it David’s time?

In Florence, Spalletti’s Juventus seeks answers after two consecutive draws. With Vlahović still in doubt, it could be David’s turn against Fiorentina.
With almost all international commitments completed, it is now time to focus on the resumption of the league, which will see Juventus facing a challenging match in Florence on Saturday. Spalletti’s team is searching for answers after the last two consecutive draws against Sporting Lisbon and Torino, results that have raised some questions after the victories against Udinese and Cremonese.
The Tuscan coach may also have to do without one of the players who have become central to his project: Dusan Vlahović. The Serbian striker has been a starter in all three matches under Spalletti’s management, but the injury suffered while on international duty, fortunately revealed to be just fatigue, could still force him to miss the match against his former team.

Juventus, opportunity for David in Florence?
If Vlahović is unable to play, Spalletti has several options. At the forefront are Openda and especially Jonathan David, who has not yet shown what Juventus and the fans expected from him. A significant improvement is expected from the Canadian striker, and the hope is that under Spalletti he can regain confidence, consistency, and goals.
Who knows, perhaps his rebirth could start from the match in Florence, a game that Juventus must absolutely try to win to stay close to the top of the table. Evaluations will continue on Vlahović’s condition, but one thing is certain: Juventus will need the best version of their attackers to get back on track.

Atalanta starts again with Raffaele Palladino, who will debut on the black-and-blue bench in Naples on Saturday. The coach is already thinking about a surprise move.
With the National team commitments almost over, the anticipation for the resumption of the Serie A is increasing day by day. And on Saturday, the championship will start immediately with two very intriguing big matches: Fiorentina-Juventus and Napoli–Atalanta. At the Maradona, there will be the debut of Raffaele Palladino on the black-and-blue bench, a special debut for the Neapolitan coach, who arrived to replace Ivan Jurić and is called to give a shake to a team that finds itself in 13th place, 6 points away from the Europa League zone and 9 points away from the Champions League zone.
Of course, the first challenge is not the easiest. They will face the Italian champions at their home, looking for redemption after some not very exciting weeks. Nevertheless, there is a lot of curiosity to understand what the first eleven chosen by Palladino will be, who, according to the latest rumors, could surprise, especially in attack.

Atalanta, light attack hypothesis
With a Scamacca still looking for his best form and a Krstović who continues to lack effectiveness, it seems that Palladino is thinking of starting at the Maradona with a light attack. The idea would be to field Lookman, De Ketelaere, and Pasalić, the same trident that just over a year ago put the Azzurri defense in great difficulty and contributed to the clear 3-0 with which Gasperini’s Atalanta conquered the Naples stadium.
At the moment, it remains a hypothesis, also because the coach will wait to have all the players available before making a final decision. But the feeling is that Palladino wants to start immediately with a clear idea, focusing on mobility, quality between the lines, and a lot of aggressiveness.
The match in Naples, in this sense, will represent an important first test to understand how quickly the Goddess can rise again and find continuity.
