Weekly appointment with “Macché te lo guardi?” the Calciostyle column dedicated to Serie A Women 2025/2026. Here is the fifth day!

Women’s football in Italy in recent years has been gaining more and more space, attracting the interest of millions of fans who follow the sport in our beloved Boot. Although there is still a vast majority of people who “snub” this category, in recent seasons there have been several events and facts that have elevated women’s football to a very high level.

Compared to other European countries (Spain and England at the top), the difference in terms of audience and interest surrounding women’s football is, to quote a well-known Roman expression, “still a dear friend”, meaning very wide. In the summer, the performances of the Italian National Team (reaching the semifinals) at the European Championship, held in Switzerland, certainly brought a lot of attention to the entire movement, but there is still a long way to go to give the right spotlight to the Italian championship.

Also taking advantage of the irreverence of the title of the column “Macché, te lo guardi?”, we want to shed further light on a reality that is increasingly taking hold in our beloved country: women’s football. Because in the end, we Italians are only interested in watching and being able to comment on the game of football, regardless of who is playing.

Serie A Women, the fifth day

The fifth day of Serie A Women offers many surprises and unexpected falls. Opening the weekend of sports is Fiorentina who dominate at home against Roma, causing their first defeat of the season. The match at Viola Park is influenced in favor of the Pinones Arce squad by the expulsion, for accumulation of yellow cards, of Heatley, leaving the Giallorossi in numerical inferiority for almost the entire duration of the match.

Another resounding defeat for Juventus who lose away at Milan, driven by Renzotti and Ijeh. Third draw for Inter of Piovani who can only manage a 2-2 result with Sassuolo. The Nerazzurri waste a two-goal lead, obtained in the first ten minutes of the game. On the other hand, goals and excitement at Gubbiotti between Ternana and Como: the Lombard team, led by a brace from Nischler, come out on top.

Last-minute victories for Lazio and Genoa, respectively against Napoli and Parma.

Fiorentina Party at the Park: Giallorossi Demolished

Fiorentina – Roma 5 – 2

A explosive start to the fifth day of the championship with Fiorentina overwhelming Roma with a heavy 5-2 scoreline. The match at Viola Park is directed towards the home team already in the 5th minute with the goal by Omarsdottir.

The defense of Roma is breached by a long central through ball on which the Fiorentina forward pounces and with a precise low left-footed shot beats Lukasova. The Giallorossi feel the blow and complicate their game even further at the 21st minute. In fact, Heatley receives two yellow cards within 10 minutes, leaving her teammates in numerical inferiority for a total of 70 minutes.

The game slips even further away from Roma, forced to defend against the continuous fast attacks of the Viola players. The attacks find the target in the 53rd and 55th minutes. The second goal is a replica of the first: a through ball to beat the defense and a central finish. This time it’s Bredgaard who, arriving at the edge of the area, swerves and with a gentle touch underneath deceives the Giallorossi goalkeeper. The Viola’s second goal breaks the legs of Rossettini‘s squad, who two minutes later also concedes a personal brace to Bredgaard.

This time Lukasova complicates things. The goalkeeper, on the not-so-irresistible shot from the Danish forward, fails to intervene, allowing the ball to sneak into the net.

Just ten minutes later, Roma tries, somehow, to get back in the game with a goal from Haavi. A cross from the left by Greggi on which Fiskerstrand misjudges the exit. For the Norwegian forward, it’s an easy header into the unguarded goal. Fiorentina doesn’t let up and two minutes later extends their lead by three goals. Once again, Lukasova is at fault. On the not-so-angled shot from Bredgaard, the Czech goalkeeper deflects the shot onto Bergamaschi, who unintentionally scores an own goal.

In the 71st minute, Roma once again shortens the distance. A penalty awarded for the contact in the area of van der Zanden on Pilgrim. Giugliano doesn’t miss from the spot. The fatigue of playing almost the entire match with numerical disadvantage doesn’t help Roma in the final push, where they also concede the fifth goal to Viola with Woldvik.

A bad day for Roma who must absolutely erase the poor performance in Florence ahead of the Women’s Champions League match against Valerenga and, above all, ahead of the derby against Lazio. Second place instead for Fiorentina.

Inter Wastes Double Lead: The Nerazzurri Draw Specialist

Third draw in five matches for Inter by Piovani who can’t bring the full loot home even against Sassuolo of Spugna. The Nerazzurri start strong, going close to goal twice with Magull. The home team’s sprint start materializes in the 8th minute.

Handball in the Neroverde defense: no doubts for the referee. From the penalty spot steps up Wullaert who doesn’t miss with a cross-shot to the right. Inter is galvanized by the goal and attacks the opponent’s defense relentlessly, soon building the second goal. A ball to cut through the defense by Magull for former Manchester City player who sneaks in at the near post and bends the hands of Durand, not impeccable on this occasion. 11 minutes on the clock and 2-0 for Inter.

The Neroverde team at the 21st minute exploits the determination and aggressiveness in the area of Eto to shorten the distance. The former PSG player steals the ball from Andres and serves Clelland in the center of the area, who punishes the Nerazzurri defense with a precise curling shot to the far post where Runarsdottir can’t do much.

In the second half, Inter continues to dominate the game and be in control of the match without ever managing to create a real attack to definitively close the game. With this premise, Sassuolo equalizes at 83′ with the ballistic prowess from 25 meters of Chaib. The Nerazzurri feel the equalizer and at the end of the game they even risk the comeback, again with Chaib. The French player narrowly misses a penalty kick in motion.

Another draw for Inter by Piovani who doesn’t know how to win anymore. Positive responses for Spugna and his Sassuolo, who believe in the draw despite the deadly one-two at the start of the match.

Juventus Makes Negative History: Milan’s Super Success

Milan – Juventus 2 – 1

A difficult start to the season for Juventus. At the Comunale in Fiorenzuola d’Arda, the Bianconere suffer their second defeat in the championship against Milan. Never in history had the Vecchia Signora collected fewer than 10 points in the first five matches.

Opening the match is Milan at 20′. Renzotti dashes on the right, burning the direct opponent, and puts in the middle for the onrushing Ijeh, cleverly placing the ball at the right moment and anticipating the Bianconeri defense on the near post.

Juventus is not discouraged and starts to play and create chances. Like in previous outings, Canzi‘s team wastes many opportunities up front, lacking ruthlessness on several occasions. However, just before halftime, the Bianconere equalize with Girelli. One Half is Enough for Como: Pavan’s Olympic Goal is Worth Gold

Ternana – Como 2 – 4

All too easy for Como of Sottili away at Ternana. The Lombard team needs only the first 45 minutes to settle the game. The absolute protagonist is Nischler, author of the double that opened the doors for Como.

Two glaring errors by the Umbrian defense gift two goals to the 2000-born forward, who punishes in both cases. In the 37th minute, Como seals the deal with an Olympic goal by Pavan. Directly from the corner kick, she draws a perfect arc that hits the far post and goes in.

The hope of a comeback is extinguished a few minutes later with Como‘s fourth goal by Kerr. The substitute forward beats Ghioc with a precise left-footed shot to the far post. To close the scoring, Pirone once again, this time from the penalty spot with a powerful central strike.

The match ends with a final score of 2-4 for Como who climbs to third place in the standings. Noteworthy for Ternana are the glaring errors that put the match on the track for the Lombard team.
