The Swiss, leading the group, are in excellent form and aim to strengthen their leadership, keeping the surprise Kosovo at bay before the direct clash scheduled in the next round.
On the other hand, the Scandinavians have little to ask for in the last qualifying matches. The Swedish national team has only collected 1 point in 4 games so far, and is coming from three consecutive defeats that cost coach Tomasson his job.
On the Sweden bench, Graham Potter has taken over, former coach of Chelsea and West Ham. The Englishman will make his debut as head coach in tomorrow’s game. Potter will have the task of getting the best out of talents like Gyokeres and his teammates in view of the playoffs, in which the Scandinavians will participate thanks to the Nations League.
Switzerland Team
The national team coached by Murat Yakin wants to secure participation in the upcoming World Cup for the 6th consecutive time. The Swiss have accumulated 10 points in the first four matches, scoring nine goals and conceding none. Defensive solidity seems to be the real secret of the Swiss team.
Coach Yakin will have to do without a key player like Remo Freuler, who is out with a shoulder dislocation. Another familiar face from our league, Aebischer, could take his place. The defensive line led by Manuel Akanji, Ndoye, and Vargas complete the trio with Embolo.
Sweden Team
There is much anticipation surrounding the possible choices of coach Potter at the helm of Sweden for the first time. The new coach will not be able to count on star player Viktor Gyokeres, who is out due to a knee problem. Another striker, Alexander Isak, has recovered just in time after issues with Liverpool. It remains to be seen tactically whether Potter will adopt the 3-man defense, his standard club formation, or initially continue with the 4-4-2 used by the former coach.
In midfield, there will be room for Karlstrom, the midfielder from Udinese, alongside Ayari. Elanga will start from the first minute, as will Lindelof in defense.
