Napoli-Pisa – Conte suffers more than expected, but in the end bends (3-2) the team excellently put on the field by Gilardino.
Conte against Pisa rotates his players less than expected, despite the hard-fought effort displayed by Napoli in Manchester to try to contain the impetuous progress of Guardiola’s team with one man down.
Napoli, Conte’s words
The coach of Napoli, Antonio Conte, commented on the victory to Sky.
Match
“It is never easy to win. We played against a physical team: they have pace and acceleration, in addition to an intensity that places them among the best in these statistics. When you have opponents who can withstand challenges, it becomes a problem. In the first half, we struggled to make diagonals with the midfielders: but we are happy to have achieved four victories, there are six-seven teams of excellent level.”
Lucca
“I hugged Lucca because he is working hard and entered the field well. When I talk about calmness and preach prudence, I say it for this: we, unlike others, do not have a settled squad to go through a season with different commitments like the Champions League, the Coppa Italia, and the Supercoppa. The players come from different realities and find the Scudetto on their shirts: they play with high expectations. We, unlike others, have to work on the field to grow and improve, but sometimes you do not have time and experience is gained slowly. When I hear talk of a big transfer market, well, that’s another thing.”
Europe
“Certainly, by playing you gain experience and can train. For us, this season will be the most complex: in the squad there are 9 players, you are putting half a team with players coming from other realities. Patience is needed, accepting mistakes because the shirt weighs heavy. Compared to teams that play in Europe regularly, we are not settled. This brings physical and mental stress.”
Manchester
“You have to be good at high pressing and when the team makes you play low. Before Di Lorenzo’s expulsion, the game plan was visible. After 18 minutes, it is inevitable, you have to hope to defend yourself and bring home the result. However, everyone is starting to understand that there are different phases of the game: everyone comes to press you high, even City no longer has the same pressure as before. Even a coach like Guardiola, yesterday at Arsenal’s home, wanted to bring home the result.”
Then to DAZN.
Performance
“Starting with four wins is never easy for anyone, doing it gives us satisfaction. Before, I heard talk about the squad issue: I am repeating that we made signings because we had to fill a squad that did not exist before. Whether it is an important market or not is to be evaluated. We have taken players from different realities, they need time, as I have already said in the press conference. This will be the most complicated year for us because, unlike others who have already experienced the Champions League and had the squad ready, we find ourselves with many players who need to gain experience. This requires patience, understanding, and waiting for these players to grow because we cannot always play with the same eleven. We are taking risks in progress. If you put in nine players, it means you have put in half a team and therefore you will find difficulties, also because you have the Scudetto on your shirt.
Transfer market
“I am happy because Lucca is working hard, but he comes from a different reality. He needs to feel the new level. Training is also important because you train with high-level players. Patience is needed. When I hear people say ‘important transfer market’, I say important in terms of numbers because if you average out nine signings, even if you spend 150 million, it’s 15-20 million per player. Important players have a different cost, from 50-60-70 million. It’s a different thing. Lucca’s situation applies to all the others who have arrived this year from different realities. Lucca is eager to work and learn, it will be up to me and the staff to try to enhance their football knowledge. If you think we have taken players ready to play in the Champions League and everything, I say we have taken players who need time and time is not there, so we take risks. We took Hojlund who is young and was not playing at Manchester United.”
Spinazzola
“He had the tendon problem at the best moment of his career, when we won the Euros in 2021. But he has quality, he has physicality, if he stays focused for 98 minutes, he is a top player. In fact, he is playing.”
Standings
“We are looking at the journey. We have already put 12 points in the bag and this is important. It is important to have started on the right foot. Then we know very well that Milan has the structure of a team that played in the Champions League last year. Those who played in the Champions League or the Europa League have already structured squads, something Napoli did not have. I repeat: we have taken nine players and everything depends on the growth of these players who have arrived from different realities. We need calm, patience, and acceptance if sometimes mistakes are made.”
Good morning
“We have to see what he had, we will make evaluations. Hopefully it’s nothing serious, otherwise this boy will have to go get blessed.”

Inter coach Christian Chivu speaks at a press conference on the eve of the big match against Napoli at Maradona.
No one is in better form than Inter. The Nerazzurri, coming off 7 consecutive victories in Serie A and Champions League, want to continue their great form in the big match against Napoli. The Maradona challenge, between the top two teams of last season, could determine new power dynamics at the top. Currently, both teams are tied on 15 points in the standings.
The match against Conte’s team also gives Inter a chance to redeem themselves after losing last season’s title to Napoli by just one point. On the eve of the game, Inter coach Christian Chivu spoke at a press conference. Here are his words.
Inter, Chivu’s Words

Match.
“We can’t make comparisons with last year but look at what happened last year: they won the league and we didn’t. The rivalry and ambitions are there.”
Rest Day.
“I don’t need to justify it, it seems normal to me. Sometimes, it’s the best training. We’re coming from a very intense period, it seemed right to take a break and give them a day with their families. I trust their professionalism.”
Can this game shape the season?
“It’s important, we’re only on matchday eight. We understand that a lot is at stake but not everything. We go with conviction and we must be prepared.”
Are you preparing something different?
“I’ve learned that all games should be treated equally to maintain continuity, you can’t afford to consider yourself superior to others or you won’t win. I’ve been in teams where training was harder than the matches but we always had the right attitude.”

“For me, it doesn’t change anything, I have 4 compatible and generous strikers, if I mix them, the team’s performance remains the same. For me, there are no pairs, they have shown they can play together.”
Is it becoming harder to score in Serie A?
“I don’t see a problem, it means teams are well-prepared and so are the coaches. Abroad, there’s less concern about the opponent and more focus on the development of your own team. But it doesn’t mean that Italian football is declining or lagging behind, it’s a different way of interpreting it.”
Napoli is the team that beat them a year ago: is there a desire for revenge?
“I don’t think they have any chips on their shoulders. After Conte, there was Inzaghi and we won the second star and played two Champions League finals. I don’t think facing Conte is an extra motivation, we are Inter.”
Rotations.
“Diouf and Luis Henrique have played less so far but they have room for growth, I don’t consider them ready yet, but it doesn’t mean I haven’t given them the opportunity. Perhaps with many close games, I had less time to listen to them and explain things, but they have quality, I see it every day and there will come a time when they unlock and we’ll see them on the field more often.”

Lazio, injury alert: muscle strain for Tavares?

Milan-Pisa: Possible Line-ups and Where to Watch

AC Milan vs. Pisa will open matchday eight of Serie A. The San Siro match will take place tomorrow evening at 8:45 PM.
Matchday eight of Serie A kicks off, with the clash between AC Milan and Pisa headlining the fixtures.
The Rossoneri are top of the table with 16 points, while the Tuscan Nerazzurri are at the bottom with just three points.
It’s a classic top-bottom showdown, with two teams motivated by very different factors.
After a hectic European week, AC Milan restart their league campaign at home.
Following the victory over Fiorentina, Allegri’s men are looking for another win to temporarily extend their lead at the top.
The keyword, however, is humility, considering an opponent significantly inferior to the Rossoneri, but equally determined.
The Tuscan coach may give De Winter a starting spot in defense.
The same fate seems to await Ricci, who is likely to start in midfield alongside Fofana and Modric.
Finally, the attack will be led by Gimenez, with Leao supporting the Mexican.
Pisa’s Lineup
The Pisa team’s position is cause for concern, with just three points from the first seven games.
This poor performance reflects their last-place standing, highlighted by a 0-0 draw in the last round against Hellas Verona.
The offensive struggles of the Tuscans are evident, but Alberto Gilardino remains confident and sticks with Nzola up front.
The former Spezia player will be partnered in attack by Moreo, while the midfield likely to face San Siro will consist of Akinsanmiro, Marin, and Aebischer, with Toure and Leris on the flanks.
In goal, Semper retains his spot, supported by a defense of Canestrelli, Albiol, and Caracciolo.
Possible Lineups
AC Milan (3-5-2): Maignan; De Winter, Gabbia, Pavlovic; Saelemaekers, Fofana, Modric, Ricci, Bartesaghi; Leao, Gimenez. Coach: Massimiliano Allegri
Pisa (3-5-1-1): Semper; Canestrelli, Albiol, Caracciolo; Tourè, Akinsamiro, Aebischer, Marin, Leris; Moreo; Nzola. Coach: Alberto Gilardino
