Fiorentina, guessing game starts for sporting director: who will replace Pradè?

Fiorentina experienced yet another fiery day in their recent history: yesterday, on the eve of the delicate match against Lecce, Pradè resigned.
It was certainly not a bolt from the blue, as the resignation of the Roman executive had been expected for a while, especially by the fans who had made him the scapegoat for this disastrous start to the season.
The protests, through the banners that covered various places in Florence, were the final straw.
Pradè’s resignation came yesterday morning and was accepted by owner Commisso, closing his two-fold adventure on the banks of the Arno, the first under the Della Valle management from 2012 to 2016, the second with the arrival of the American tycoon from 2019 until yesterday.

Meanwhile, the question arises as to who will succeed the resigned executive. Interim powers will be taken over by technical director Goretti, but it remains to be seen if Commisso will replace Pradè by promoting someone already in the management team, as was the case with Ferrari following Barone’s death, or if he will opt for a prominent figure.
As reported by La Nazione, the first name that Fiorentina could contact is Cristiano Giuntoli, fresh from a successful experience with Napoli and a less fortunate one with Juventus, a profile of high caliber, as would be Paolo Maldini’s, a highly respected Milanese icon also appreciated in Florence, but who is more suited to the role of general manager rather than a sporting one.

Other names circulating at the moment are Petrachi, former Roma and Torino, and Bonato, who recently ended his experience at Cagliari.
These are certainly hot days, as the new sports director could be immediately tasked with choosing a new coach if Pioli fails to turn the season around.
