Former Fiorentina striker Mutu was present at Viola Park for Frey’s biography. Here’s what he said.
Adrian Mutu returned to the city that was his footballing home for 5 years: Florence. The former Romanian striker, a key player with the Fiorentina from 2006 to 2011, attended the presentation of Pure Instinct, the biography of his former teammate Sebastien Frey, organized at Viola Park.
Mutu, who still maintains a special bond with the purple colors and the fans, shared his thoughts on Fiorentina, the upcoming match against Inter, and his former team, Juventus. Read the full interview here.
Fiorentina, Mutu: “Very balanced championship”
About Frey’s career book?
“Seba is a great friend, it’s a pleasure to be here and I’m honored that he invited me. I’ll read it as soon as I can, our friendship goes beyond football and it’s a beautiful thing.”
Your Fiorentina fought for the Champions League… This one?
“This one too, at least it seems so at the moment. It’s going great, let’s hope it continues like this, the championship is long and difficult but there are many positive things.”
What do you particularly like?
“Since the game against Milan, the consecutive victories have started… I’ve seen a Fiorentina that plays as a team, with important performances. This consistency it has shown in recent times is beautiful, it’s what a great team needs to stay at the top.”
What championship are you watching?
“It’s more balanced, the standings say so. The big teams are always there, but the others have improved a lot. Everywhere, everything is balancing out, making the championship more difficult.”
How do you see Fiorentina-Inter?
“At Inter, I was very young, but it was a great experience with teammates like Ronaldo, Baggio, Vieri, Zamorano, Blanc, Peruzzi… There were great players. Inter is used to playing these games, on paper they are favored. Fiorentina will have to give more because they have to consolidate these matches and show that they deserve their place. I hope it’s not just a temporary thing, that Fiorentina finds consistency starting from the match with Inter.”
With Kean, Fiorentina has also found a striker with many goals in his legs.
“It’s important, to stay at the top you need forwards with double figures. I hope the others will score now too. Kean is finding his comfort, everyone trusts him and Palladino is pampering him. So he’s proving to be a strong striker.”
Having played with all the champions, does he remind you of anyone?
“I don’t like comparisons, but maybe physically he’s the strongest of all, he’s an animal. He’s different from the others, what I like is the quality, the strength, now he’s also finding continuity in scoring, which is what he was missing.”
The new era of Juventus?
“Juventus is used to being up there, fighting for the championship. Now it’s a construction period with Motta, a coach I like and I think he will do good things.”

Has football today changed compared to your time?
“Everything has changed, not just in football. You have to adapt, football was beautiful before and it’s beautiful now, maybe more athletic and focused on physicality. You have to adapt to the times, football is evolving.”
Inter will regain Lautaro, Fiorentina Gudmundsson.
“Gudmundsson won’t be at his best so I don’t think he’ll start, so I don’t know how much he can give because the pace will be high. Lautaro has recovered from a fever, if he’s well he will definitely be on the field. I think Gudmundsson will need careful management after a month and a half of being out.”

Milan-Pisa: Possible Line-ups and Where to Watch

AC Milan vs. Pisa will open matchday eight of Serie A. The San Siro match will take place tomorrow evening at 8:45 PM.
Matchday eight of Serie A kicks off, with the clash between AC Milan and Pisa headlining the fixtures.
The Rossoneri are top of the table with 16 points, while the Tuscan Nerazzurri are at the bottom with just three points.
It’s a classic top-bottom showdown, with two teams motivated by very different factors.
After a hectic European week, AC Milan restart their league campaign at home.
Following the victory over Fiorentina, Allegri’s men are looking for another win to temporarily extend their lead at the top.
The keyword, however, is humility, considering an opponent significantly inferior to the Rossoneri, but equally determined.
The Tuscan coach may give De Winter a starting spot in defense.
The same fate seems to await Ricci, who is likely to start in midfield alongside Fofana and Modric.
Finally, the attack will be led by Gimenez, with Leao supporting the Mexican.
Pisa’s Lineup
The Pisa team’s position is cause for concern, with just three points from the first seven games.
This poor performance reflects their last-place standing, highlighted by a 0-0 draw in the last round against Hellas Verona.
The offensive struggles of the Tuscans are evident, but Alberto Gilardino remains confident and sticks with Nzola up front.
The former Spezia player will be partnered in attack by Moreo, while the midfield likely to face San Siro will consist of Akinsanmiro, Marin, and Aebischer, with Toure and Leris on the flanks.
In goal, Semper retains his spot, supported by a defense of Canestrelli, Albiol, and Caracciolo.
Possible Lineups
AC Milan (3-5-2): Maignan; De Winter, Gabbia, Pavlovic; Saelemaekers, Fofana, Modric, Ricci, Bartesaghi; Leao, Gimenez. Coach: Massimiliano Allegri
Pisa (3-5-1-1): Semper; Canestrelli, Albiol, Caracciolo; Tourè, Akinsamiro, Aebischer, Marin, Leris; Moreo; Nzola. Coach: Alberto Gilardino

Parma, something still isn’t right: Tardini the only certainty
The Parma is preparing for the home match against Como scheduled for Saturday at 3 PM. After the draw at Marassi, doubts have emerged about referees and motivations.
The controversies following the expulsion of Ndiaye, which heavily influenced the match against Genoa, have almost justified the performance of Cuesta’s men. Despite the incident, the team’s reaction was not seen, and in the end, they almost suffered a defeat.
Parma, lacking continuity: the next opponent is Como
Six points in 7 games and several relegation clashes already closed, this is the start of the season for the Crociati team that came out unscathed at Marassi despite almost an hour with one man down. In the end, Suzuki’s saved penalty was a reflection of the decidedly below-par performance of Pellegrino and his teammates.
It is true that such a delicate away game requires a defensive attitude, especially with one man down, however, Ndiaye’s expulsion came in the 42nd minute (surrounded by heated debates on the severity of the foul that led to the first yellow for the yellow-blue defender) and until that moment, Parma had not shown a great performance. The home team had already taken control from the start, and the statistics after the first 45 minutes, including total shots (7), possession (56% vs 44%), and expected goals (0.39 vs 0.05), showed that the match was already an uphill battle.
It is known that Genoa at home is a beast and gives very little space to opponents, especially in a relegation clash, and a countermeasure in this sense had not yet been revealed. Cuesta then had to completely change the lineup in the second half with the exit of Almqvist, one of the main offensive threats, and the entry of Ordonez.
A team lacking energy
The second 45 minutes saw the Grifone attack with all their energies to find a goal that would have been worth its weight in gold. Instead, a great Suzuki prevented Ekhator and his teammates from taking home the 3 points. The defeat against Lecce seems to have suddenly extinguished the fire that was lit by the victory against Torino a few weeks ago.
The opportunity to redeem themselves is just around the corner, and against Como, it will be mandatory to take advantage of the Tardini factor, which was decisive in terms of points against Atalanta and the Granata. Pellegrino must find the joy of scoring, as well as Cutrone, but the rest of the team is also called upon to show their desire for victory. Bernabé continues to show great plays but still lacks effectiveness in the final third, as do Almqvist and Britscghi.

Cremona, undefeated against the other small teams: the Nicola effect
