Former Juventus midfielder, now head of the competition for Italy, talks about the tournament’s news and his views on the current performance of the Old Lady.
Today, Turin turns into the capital of the Kings League, with Claudio Marchisio at the center stage as the protagonist of the Italian draft. The former Juventus midfielder, now in charge of the competition for Italy, not only explained the details of the competition but also answered questions from the present journalists, providing interesting insights into the current state of his beloved team, Juventus. Here are his words.
Juventus, Marchisio’s words
What can you tell us about this event in such an important location?
“I have attended many evenings at the Teatro Regio, and I am glad to see so many young people here tonight who may have never been here before. They are here to see us, but they will also see a fantastic place like this. It is an important moment for us, and I am curious to see the draft. I have spoken a bit with all the presidents, and I am curious to see what strategies they will use. Then here in Turin, we will also have the final of the Kings League World Cup.”
How does this draft work?
“It is identical to the NBA draft; surely the first picks will be the most talented players. As we go down, it will be different, but the initial choices will be the most interesting, so stay focused from the beginning.”
Turning to Serie A, is this still the league of the seven sisters?
“I confirm this feeling, the teams at the top are very close. But I am convinced that from January, 2-3 teams will pull away. In this phase, Juventus has some very important absences, the transfer market will also come into play, and we will have to see who tries to strengthen their squad. Someone will definitely have to do it.”
Is Vlahovic the right man for this Juventus? Does he need help?
“These are choices of the club, the coach. I hope he does not have any further physical problems. Juventus needs him also in terms of numbers because Milik has not returned yet, and there are no other center-forwards. Despite what is said about Juventus’ style of play, not having the center-forward makes a difference, and I hope he can be available as soon as possible because Juventus will have many home games, and a player like him is essential.”

What do you think about Koopmeiners’ current form?
“It’s a period of adjustment for him, not only in terms of position. It’s a total change both in playing style and in a different role from what he had at Atalanta. It’s worth remembering that he had a fairly unique injury, to the ribs. I hope he can find his way to scoring goals because I believe that in some performances, it can weigh.”
Are there any Kings League rules that you would bring to eleven-a-side football?
“We will see over time, there are many things that can change the outcome of a match with the cards. I know that in youth sectors, some Kings League rules are already being used with young players. So, some things are already shifting.”
What are the seven ideal Serie A players that you would see fitting well in your Kings League team?
“We need to think carefully, seven-a-side football is different from eleven-a-side, and it requires players who are very skilled in one-on-one situations. I’ll tell you three: Douglas Costa, Andrea Pirlo, and Andres Iniesta.”

Udinese, the Okoye case: the Public Prosecutor continues to investigate

The betting case involving Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye is still ongoing, as he has been called to trial for fraud by the Udine Prosecutor’s Office.
In the last Serie A match against Cremonese, Maduka Okoye returned to defend the goal for Udinese. After serving a two-month suspension for the betting case, the Nigerian goalkeeper returned to the field immediately reclaiming his starting position, which had been filled by Razvan Sava in his absence.
However, the ordeal related to the betting case in which he is involved does not seem to be entirely over. The Udine Prosecutor’s Office has not closed the case. Instead, they have issued a decree summoning him to stand trial for aggravated fraud, with the first hearing set for May 13, 2026.
Udinese, Okoye case: an update on the investigation
The investigation revolves around an abnormal flow of bets related to the match played between Lazio and Udinese on March 11, 2024, during which Okoye was booked for time-wasting in the 63rd minute.
In the realm of sports betting, the yellow card shown to the Udinese goalkeeper, which had odds of eight times the stake, generated total winnings of over €120,000, most of which were recorded in the province of Udine.
According to the Udine Prosecutor’s Office, Okoye had arranged the action with a Friulian entrepreneur, the owner of a pizzeria, in a meeting prior to the match against Lazio. Two other entrepreneurs are also implicated, who, upon learning of this insider information, also placed bets. The three of them earned a total of over €28,000.
The injured party is said to be the company Snaitech, which suffered an economic loss as a result of the abnormal betting activity. Now Okoye must prepare to face the trial while Udinese, whose club is not under investigation, waits for further developments.

Alberto Gilardino on the eve of Pisa-Milan: “Pride and humility to challenge the top of the class at San Siro. Allegri has given identity and strength to Milan.”
Tomorrow at 20:45 the match between Pisa and Milan will kick off, valid for the eighth round of the Serie A 2025/2026.
In this regard, the coach of the Tuscan team, Alberto Gilardino, who after 34 years will return to challenge Milan at San Siro, participated in the usual press conference ahead of tomorrow’s match.
Here are his words:
About the match his Pisa must play
“To take the field tomorrow night at San Siro, we will naturally need sporting happiness but also great pride in being able to play against the top of the class, to play in that stadium as a newly promoted team. We are well aware of the pitfalls of the game and the strength of Milan. We will need great humility in defense, sacrifice from everyone, but awareness and personality when we have the ball.”
About Milan
“We will have responsibility on the field, great personality with the ball, and great sacrifice in defense. Nothing is impossible in football. We know who we are playing against, we know the strength, skill, and technical qualities of the team we are facing, but at the same time we must try to play on every field trying to take the points. This is essential to me in the context of a season and the preparation of match weeks.”
About Allegri
“Milan is a team that has regained great defensive compactness, the credit goes to coach Allegri. He has given a solid mentality by enhancing the qualities of the individuals, he has individuals who make a difference, in technical quality, speed, and physicality, but being able to give such a mentality so quickly was a great merit of the coach. Mister Allegri is a reference point, he is a very prepared coach, who has coached top clubs, he is a winning coach who has managed to immediately give an identity to this Milan, it was his strength.”
About his years at Milan
“Milan was an important part of my career and my life, where I experienced beautiful moments with that team and with coach Ancelotti with whom we won everything. It is a beautiful and exciting memory of those seasons and of my growth in those years after Parma. It is normal to find him again as a coach, against, it has a particular effect, but it is always a pleasure to return to that stadium, for me one of the most beautiful in the world, and it always has a certain effect.”
