Roma, Celik’s exam outcome: Athletic Bilbao falls
Views: 52
Roma believes and aims for the top of the European competition in order to “fill the drawer” and consider bolstering their squad with Frattesi.
Dreaming is possible, but only if the Europa League objective is achieved. Roma believes in it and prepares itself to climb the podium, collect the 21.4 million prize, and make important purchases for the future of the Giallorossi club.
The obstacle of Porto had to be overcome, and Ranieri managed to do it excellently.
The manager gave a positive result to his fans by completing the first step, last Thursday’s playoff. Now the focus is on the upcoming matches (next one against Athletic Bilbao on March 6).

Roma Believes and Does Well
Winning the Europa League is important not only for morale but also to add another trophy to the showcase and because of the significant economic prizes, which the Trigoria club needs.
In case of a final victory, Roma would receive 24.1 million euros (which is no small amount!) plus 5 other top earnings and an increase in the quota linked to the ranking and market pool of the company. In short, a considerable total amount.
All conditions that Roma finds very appealing.
Not to mention (in case of Europa League victory for Roma) the access to the Champions League next year.
If Roma were to achieve the feat, the Frattesi project would be more feasible and would mean making a big impact in terms of the squad.
Davide Frattesi has been on Roma’s radar since January. The Giallorossi club tried to bring him back home (Frattesi is a native of Rome), but the agreement fell through and ended in nothing.
It is clear, however, that the club has no intention of giving up on this player and aims to make another proposal (to Inter) as early as this summer, possibly accompanied by a check of 35 million euros that could entice the Milan club.
Ranieri and the players, therefore, have the goal of winning in the Europa League because otherwise, all this runs the risk of remaining just a dream, and not turning into reality!

Roma, a team with a dual identity: struggles in Europe
Views: 6
AS Roma started their journey in the Europa League rather negatively, with 2 defeats in the first 3 games. However, their performance in the league is quite different.
The home defeat against Viktoria Plzen left a bitter taste, along with some perplexity. Gasperini’s team has struggled to get going in the Europa League and has lost both home games so far. There have been too many defensive mistakes, which once again have cost the Giallorossi dearly.
Against Lille, it was Tsimikas who made a naive error that led to the French goal, while in yesterday’s game, it was young Ziolkowski who made the mistake and was substituted by Gasperini after just half an hour. While the defense seems to be the strong point of this team in the league, they are making too many mistakes and lack precision in the Europa League.
Roma, a sterile attack

Another rather evident problem, highlighted by the coach in the post-match interview, is the sterility of the attack. Apart from the Argentine Soulé, who has scored 3 goals in the league, the rest of the attack is struggling to perform.
Dovbyk and Ferguson seem out of place: two physically heavy players, rather clumsy with the ball at their feet, who are struggling to find the back of the net. The Ukrainian was booed off the Olimpico pitch yesterday, and every touch of the ball by the Irishman was met with loud grumbling from the entire stadium.
Dybala scored his first goal of the season from a penalty, but more is expected from him. Finally, Bailey is proving to be in form and able to make an impact, having come on in the last two games and igniting the Olimpico with his plays.
Gasperini must find a solution and hope to mentally recover his two strikers, who currently seem demoralized and disconnected from the team.
