Bayern Munich, ankle injury for Kane: will he miss Inter?

Bayern Munich of Kompany risks losing Harry Kane as well for the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals against Inter.

Who will Kompany rely on?

The Belgian coach, former Manchester City, doesn’t have much choice, especially in defense.

In goal, Urbig will play (Neuer hopes to recover for the return match). Protecting the goalkeeper will be Kim and Dier in the center (missing Upamecano and Ito). Guerreiro (recovered after a slight strain) and Laimer will act on the wings.

In midfield, there should be Kimmich and Palhinha. Goretzka is doubtful. Pavlovic is definitely absent. Kompany lacks both playmaking and muscle in the midfield. More important absences in the attacking midfield: Coman and Musiala are out. Sané (currently the most in-form player in the team) and Olise will be available on the wings, while Müller is expected to play as an attacking midfielder.

The striker should be Harry Kane, who, however, came out worse for wear against Augsburg. His presence is not in doubt, but Bayern remains in a total emergency.

“Musiala’s injury is not the most important topic of the day – Kompany said after the match. – The important thing is that we won. I’m not a doctor, but it seems that Jamal needs to rest for a while. These things happen, so we shouldn’t get distracted. We have worked hard to get to the moment we are about to experience. We must make the most of the upcoming matches to win something.”

And Inter?

Compared to the Bavarians, Inter has a much lighter situation in terms of injuries. Simone Inzaghi will only be without Dumfries, Taremi, and Carboni due to injury, and Barella due to accumulation of yellow cards in the away match against Parma before the Champions League.

In terms of squad depth, Inter is ahead, but one should never count out a team like Bayern Munich.

The Bayern Munich is a powerhouse. An incredible start to the season for the German team, with 11 wins in as many games. In front of 75,000 fans at the Fußball Arena München, for a match valid for the third day of the UEFA Champions League, come the Belgians of Club Brugge.

The Bavarians can count on an attacking department with 40 goals scored so far. Top player of the season start Harry Kane, scoring in the last 9 matches between league and National team. Absent from the match for the Bavarians are Davies, Ito, Musiala, and Stanisic.

However, as the main striker, Nicolas Jackson should play instead of Kane (likely to drop back behind the former Chelsea player). While on the wings, Olise and Luis Diaz should find space. The 3rd matchday of the Champions League sees Eintracht Frankfurt and Liverpool facing each other. A match that promises excitement, especially considering the great offensive capabilities of the home team. Six goals scored and conceded by the team coached by Dino Toppmoller in the first two European games of the season, resulting in two 5-1 results: the home win against Galatasaray, and the defeat suffered against Atletico Madrid at the Metropolitano.
