Torino coach, Paolo Vanoli, addressed a press conference to preview the match against Venezia, scheduled for Friday at 8:45 PM.
Here is an excerpt from the words of the Torino coach on the eve of the clash against Venezia, which will kick off the 35th round of Serie A on Friday night.
Torino, Vanoli’s words
How are you preparing for the match with Venezia? Does it also have a special meaning for you?
“The real emotion was in the first leg, which came almost immediately after what we had experienced together. Now a whole round has passed, and everyone has their own objectives. Venezia has revived, they are in a tough fight for survival, and we must keep that in mind. They play good football, I compliment the coach: he has proven himself wherever he has been. They are very dangerous on set pieces, they score a lot from there. We need to be focused, alert, and we absolutely want these three points.”
What has been the journey for Torino from the first leg until now?
“We started off on the right foot, then we changed our skin and entered a phase of evolution. We have improved a lot, even though in the recent period, absences have not allowed us to maintain continuity.”
What approach will be needed on Friday?
“It must be a strong approach. We are working a lot on mentality, without looking at what others are doing. We need to understand what the opponents want, what they are looking for: not all games are approached the same way. Venezia and Lecce will fight it out, to the end, and we must show that we have our identity. We have already done it, then the results also depend on how the game is interpreted.”
Torino is always “more or less” tenth, how does that make you feel?
“It bothers me to hear about being ‘more or less tenth’, about holidays… It’s nice to play matches with real motivations. If in the future we find ourselves fighting for something concrete, these matches will become decisive.”
Is the team ready to receive this message?
“It must be. And we must give our best until the last day. If the goal has become this, we must achieve it. It’s a matter of mentality, and this end of the season is a valuable training in this regard. We want to grow in this aspect.”
How are the injured players?
“Ricci will not be there, he still has discomfort from tendinopathy. Lazaro is suspended, but Gineitis is back. Ilic is fine, as are the others.”
In Naples, you chose a back three. Will you confirm it against Venezia?
“I hope the reason was understood: unfortunately, we had several absences. Lazaro was not available, Gineitis replaced him well but then he was suspended… We had no alternatives on the right flank. Fortunately, we had worked on that system and were able to adopt it. In the second half, with the late returns of Lazaro and Vlasic, we had more options. For Venezia, we will evaluate: Gineitis is available now, we will see what the best solution will be.”
Upon arriving in Turin, you went to Superga: does May 4th provide an extra stimulus?
“The history of this club should be a daily motivation, not just on May 4th. I try every day, even during the week, to make the players understand what jersey we wear. It would be a big mistake to dwell only on that date… May 4th is special, going to Superga is more of a duty than a right. We must honor an irreplaceable team, perhaps unique, for what it represented: ten out of eleven in the National team… And then we must remember all the people who lost their lives in that tragic accident. It is a duty to do it always, in good times and bad: sometimes we do it well, other times less.”
Buffon said that one day he will see you on an even bigger bench. How does that make you feel?
“I thank Buffon, even though I did not directly read his words. I must thank him: I had the fortune to play with one of the best goalkeepers in the world. At my first training session, they asked me who impressed me the most, and I immediately replied ‘Buffon’. He is a great man, and he can also transmit important values in the National team. As for my future, I am not used to looking too far ahead. I focus on the present and work hard. If today I have the fortune to coach this great team, it is thanks to what I have done so far. The future always depends on what is built day by day.”
Have you seen the videos of the May 4th celebrations from past years?
“Yes, thanks also to our press officer, who tells me anecdotes every day and teaches me something. It is one of the most beautiful things, and I am proud of it. There are stories that give you chills. I try to transmit all of this to the players: I also did it with a quote from Pulici. It is not true that we do not respect this history on the field: we always give our best, but sometimes things don’t work out. I know which path I must follow, and I continue to walk it.”

How is Vlasic doing?
“He was returning from a calf discomfort, a hematoma that was bothering him. Now it’s just a matter of managing it, but he has the 90 minutes in his legs. It’s a different story for Lazaro, who had been out for longer and required a different management.”
What progress has Dembele made in recent months?
“He still has room for growth from a technical point of view, but he has improved a lot physically and has important natural abilities. But then there’s the ball running… and that’s why in training, I also try him in other roles to help him better understand the game.
It’s a pleasure to work with him: he earned the goal against Udinese thanks to his desire and determination to become someone. This is what I look for in young players. But you also have to know how to guide them: a coach must be able to keep the enthusiasm high, even when the opportunity to play is not seen. Before the match with Udinese, he told me he was sad because he wasn’t playing, and I told him that in football anything can happen… He came on and scored.
It has been a nice journey we’ve made together. The best part is that I didn’t even know him: it was the sports director of Venezia who recommended him to me, and I didn’t even have time to watch videos or profiles. He arrived on the last day of the transfer window, the team manager told me he would arrive at the station at 11:30 PM… and I thought: couldn’t he have arrived in the morning? Alone, at night, at the station. It gives me goosebumps to think about it. It shows you what kind of guy he is.”
Three defeats in three absences of Ricci. How much does his absence weigh?
“Without taking anything away from the others, we all know the growth Ricci has had and how important he is for us. That said, I liked the team’s response anyway: Linetty, for example, put in a good performance in Naples, and I am happy for him. But it is clear that Ricci has a specific weight. In Naples, he tried during the warm-up, but it’s always better to have a player at 100% than one at 50%. We are talking about tendinopathy: it takes time, and we need to calibrate the workload well.”

After the 3-0 victory against Fiorentina, Inter’s coach Cristian Chivu spoke at a press conference, satisfied with the performance.
The Nerazzurri bounce back after the slip-up in Napoli. Calhanoglu’s brace and Sucic’s wonderful goal defeat a disorganized Fiorentina. The Romanian coach expressed his satisfaction at the end of the match and gave his analysis of the game.

“A team like Inter has the obligation and duty to overcome moments of difficulty, to pursue the dream, the goal. Today was not easy, we faced an organized team that chose to sit back and hit us on the counter. At first, we struggled with the right choices in the final third, but there was good interplay. And in the second half, we added concreteness and determination, unlocking it with a long-range shot that we had never tried in the first half. After the second goal, things became easier.”
What can Sucic give you?
“I don’t think I have been composed in my celebrations in recent months. But I am happy for Petar, he is a complete midfielder with quality and engine, he covers ground in a certain way. And when he arrives in the box, he has the technical quality and composure, finally he showed it. We are all happy for him, for how he arrived, for how he is working to help the team.”
You never fell apart, even with young players on the pitch.
“Today we had patience, we understood that it is necessary to maintain mental energy and clarity at the highest level, to understand what the opponent is doing. And in the end, everything pays off. When the second game came within the same game, we found more spaces. It’s right to reward and play the young players, but attention is needed in how and with whom they are brought in. For us, it’s easy, the team is full of experience and helps the young players. Not only in the game, but also by setting an example during the week and pushing them to raise their level.”
How do you rate Bisseck’s performance?
“I am pleased with Yann’s performance, with his qualities I have always thought he could play as a center-back. I liked him in Belgium and I tried him again, especially considering the threat a player like Kean can pose. At one point, he came to drink and I told him that in doubt he could let the opponent come to him without trying to intercept: these are ways to understand what you should allow or not. I wasn’t as fast as him as a player, but I can also teach my boys some little secrets about the role of a defender.”

The market never sleeps: Alphadjo Cissé, a protagonist of Serie B, attracts Roma’s attention for his future. Here are the details
4 goals in 9 appearances: a statistic that places him just two goals away from the top spot in the Serie B top scorers’ list. But not only that: Alphadjo Cissé is establishing himself in this early phase of the championship as one of the most interesting prospects in the entire second division.
A forward born in 2006, of Italo-Guinean nationality, owned by Hellas Verona, who currently wears the Catanzaro jersey, a club where he is on loan.
On Friday, according to the Gazzetta Regionale, a meeting took place between Roma’s management and the player’s entourage, who reportedly received approval from Gian Piero Gasperini, interested in new names for his offensive department and particularly impressed by the profile of the young forward, a teammate of Pietro Iemmello.
Roma, why Cissé
But why would a top club, just after a bad home defeat against the Czechs of Viktoria Plzen, be interested in a player currently playing in Serie B? The answer lies in the relentless pace of the transfer market. In modern football, the early bird catches the worm: two sayings that, although unusual, perfectly explain how the most attentive clubs manage to move quickly when a young talent shows quality and the ability to attract attention. Thanks to technology and media, hardly a week goes by without big clubs knocking on the door of the most promising players.
And that’s why Roma, accustomed to moving ahead when it senses the opportunity to acquire emerging talents, would have wanted to understand the intentions of the player himself, perhaps with an eye to a possible transfer in the upcoming season, or even in January, although much more complicated.
Roma would still be in pole position, considering that the player is represented by the same entourage that manages the interests of Pierluigi Gollini and Mario Hermoso, both players already part of the Giallorossi roster.
L’#AsRoma è fortemente interessata ad Alphadjo #Cissè, talento 2006 dell’#HellasVerona. A #Catanzaro 4 gol in 9 partite sin qui. A #Gasperini piace molto. Venerdì scorso c’è stato un incontro a Trigoria con l’entourage del giocatore, lo stesso di #Gollini ed #Hermoso. pic.twitter.com/XRXxKuRxKn

Milan, Tomori in doubt for Roma? Latest updates
