Gattuso to Italy
“I think in the situation we found ourselves in, Rino is ideal from a personality and footballing standpoint. He can find what is needed for a National team: a balance between emotion and practicality. In my opinion, he will have the ability to synthesize and do the most in the shortest possible time.”

Is Pioli the right choice for Fiorentina?
“It is an intelligent choice. Pioli has always been highly appreciated wherever he has been. At Milan, he is missed because he has significant human qualities and footballing skills recognized by all. So, I say yes, Pioli is the right choice for a team that must have higher ambitions. Florence is a city that deserves to experience certain seasons. It won’t be easy, but there are realities that show that something important can be achieved.”

Does the acquisition of Dzeko go in that direction?
“He can give a big hand. Fiorentina will have to understand if Kean will stay or who will be the man to replace Kean alongside him. Dzeko is an experienced player, an investment for others, for the young ones.”

Would Bennacer and Calabria fit well?
“Calabria is a serious guy with useful qualities. However, it will be necessary to understand what Dodo will do because I don’t think Davide wants to come and be a reserve. In midfield, Fiorentina will have some situations to manage, but Bennacer is a strong player and if he comes, he will certainly lend a hand.”

What do you think of Ancelotti in Brazil?
“Carlo has arrived at one of the most coveted benches. He won’t have an easy job because Brazil, despite having less talent than in its golden years, has great potential. Seeing him there is a bit surreal, it will be a great opportunity.”

Is the job more difficult for Ancelotti or Gattuso?
“More difficult for Rino. He has little to plan and much to optimize: six games to win and score as many goals as possible. His goal is the World Cup.”

As a former midfielder, what do you think of Fagioli?
“He is a guy who, after everything he has been through, is worth persisting with. This year, he has played some really interesting games. Fiorentina must find a way to capitalize on the great potential he has.”

Is Allegri the right person to bring Milan back to Europe?
“Max is a guarantee. I know he is very eager. The conditions are there, but a lot will depend on what is made available to him.”

Can Modric still make a difference?
“Great champions can always make a difference, depending on what is asked of them. This year he has played a lot…”

How does Inter start again?
“You start by trying to overcome a disappointment that doesn’t go away. These are wounds that don’t heal and perhaps it’s right because getting rid of them is a mistake. They will have to learn to live with them, only then can they start again.”
