The new coach of Cagliari Fabio Pisacane has released statements at the press conference presenting the Sardinian club
Cagliari, Pisacane’s words
Rome, Italy 4.11.2024 : Cagliari team lined up before Italian football championship Serie A Enilive 2024-2025 match SS Lazio vs Cagliari Calcio at Stadio Olimpico in Rome on November 04, 2024.
Below are the statements made by the new coach of Cagliari Fabio Pisacane during the presentation press conference of the Sardinian club, where the CEO Stefano Melis and Sporting Director Guido Angelozzi also spoke:
The press conference begins with an introduction from CEO Stefano Melis:
“Good morning everyone, I am proud to be the one to give you the initial greetings for this new season.
Now I will pass the floor to DS Angelozzi, good work to all.”
“Good morning everyone, nice to meet you. I want to thank President Giulini and the club for wanting me here. I also want to thank Frosinone and President Stirpe for granting me this new chapter in my life,”
Have you thought about these 10 years that have taken you from the field to the Cagliari bench?
“For me, every moment and year spent at Cagliari has been an important journey. This club and this region have become important to me from the very beginning. Life is beautiful for this reason and often gives you incredible things like these”
Is there fear for this new adventure?
“Fear is always there, it is within each of us but it must be healthy to help us bring out the best in us. I have experienced this kind of fear many times in my career, but I have tried to fight it with the desire to work. I felt this healthy fear even during my journey with the Primavera, but I managed to tame it and reap the rewards”.
There has always been talk of bringing young players into the first team, is this an opportunity now?
“We should be patient with the young players. I have always tried to convey the values of this Club and belonging. There are already players from the Primavera in the first team. I don’t have to change their mentality, but continue on what we were already doing”
You participated in the UEFA PRO course. What did it leave you with?
“It certainly left me with important cultural baggage. You know my clinical history: the many knee problems led me to want to continue my studies. Then I joined the Primavera and was able to put into practice what I had learned.
Also, I have chosen men who can help me, Murelli can do it on the field given his background. You know, I have ambition but I didn’t come here to be Guardiola.
I want to put in sacrifice and dedication. I also want to make a mention of DS Angelozzi: I am happy to start working with a man with a good soul, I am sure he can accompany me on this journey. He has launched many young players and I hope to be one of them!”.
What formation will your Cagliari play with?
“This team used two formations last season. The concept of the formation is a bit outdated in my opinion, it serves for how you want to defend. The principles will be what we work on. With the staff, we want to make the departments work well and occupy the spaces well. We want to be compact and courageous with and without the ball”.
How important will it be to have the fans on your side?
“Our fans are unique and they push us a lot. From tomorrow, we will have to work little and run a lot. I thank the fans for the season ticket campaign. I don’t promise anything other than what I did as a player: to serve Cagliari and not to use it! We want to make our fans proud”.
Last season Gaetano and Prati found little space. Will this change this year?
“Gaetano must express his qualities beyond tactical aspects, we will value him and give him responsibilities. Prati has not shown his true value, the field will then give its verdict”.
Makoumbou has left for Turkey, are you already thinking about a replacement?
“Antoine is a player who has contributed over the years and for this he must be thanked. I take this opportunity to greet him and others who have left such as Viola, Augello, Palomino, and Jankto. They must be thanked as well as coach Nicola for the achieved safety. We will not be unprepared to replace Makoumbou. We will see who will arrive”.
Will it be possible to see a significant improvement in the young players from the Primavera?
“The young players need to be facilitated, trying to put them in a position not to make mistakes. Patience is needed with players like them. If we change the mentality, even from the youth sector, we can achieve many things. I will work to make it happen”.
What did your Primavera players tell you about this promotion to the first team?
“They were happy for me, then when you train them you perceive the character side: many wrote to me, they were really proud. To me, and to them, what we have built will remain forever”.
In this Cagliari, there are five players that you have also experienced as teammates. How does the relationship change now? And what about the social media?
“We all want to give a lot for Cagliari and we know the sacrifice that must be made. The roles change but the respect remains the same.
The scenarios change but the esteem is the same. These will be the foundations to transfer what Cagliari asks of others players. Social media? I have disconnected except for events. A coach like me who started this morning should not think about social media”.
Last week President Giulini spoke of the many young players who will be evaluated during the retreat.
“Idrissi and Veroli are two players who have already gained experience with a first team and it would be a shame not to value them at home. They are no longer youth players.
As for Liteta and Vinciguerra, I know them well and I hope they can surprise everyone a bit and prove me right for the qualities I see in them. They will follow us in retreat and help us while waiting for the recovery times of some injured players. With the staff, we want to build something, talking about the past and what was done in the Primavera now would be banal”.
This morning the devastating news of Diogo Jota’s death came. Any comments?
“Andrea Cossu informed me of the news. It struck me deeply, he leaves a life full of dreams, a wife, and three children. These are the kind of news you never want to hear. I embrace the family tightly”.
What do you want to bring more to this first team?
“We will try to build something, valuing each player to the fullest. We have a new mission ahead of us, which will see us at the service of the players”.

Parma by Carlos Cuesta hosts Como by Fàbregas: a challenge between the two youngest coaches in Serie A, but with very different destinies at the moment.
Tomorrow afternoon, Parma will host Como in a fascinating and internationally flavored match: on one side Carlos Cuesta, on the other Cesc Fàbregas, the two youngest coaches in the league and compatriots. On paper, the projects of the two clubs seem similar: both focus on fresh ideas, ambitious coaches, and squads built on young players to be valued.
But the reality on the field tells a different story. While Como has confirmed the solidity and style seen in the last season, as demonstrated by the splendid victory against Juventus in the last round, Parma seems to be stuck, unable to find continuity and rhythm.
Rome, Italy 22.12.2024: Emanuele Valeri of Parma during Italian football championship Serie A Enilive 2024-2025 match AS Roma vs Parma Calcio at Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
Parma, confidence to regain
The main problem for Cuesta remains the lack of a clear playing identity. The yellow-blue team often appears lacking bite and struggles especially in the offensive phase, where it seems to overly depend on the individual plays of its best players.
The serious injuries of Ondrejka and Frigan have certainly complicated the plans, but the feeling is that more decisive action could have been taken in the summer transfer market, especially after the significant departures of Leoni, Bonny, and Sohm. Now Cuesta finds himself with a squad lacking quality and alternatives, while the management, despite reiterating confidence in their coach, cannot ignore the warning signs.
Another misstep could indeed raise doubts about the future of the Spanish coach, with fans finally asking for a solid performance and some signs from an attack so far too dependent on Pellegrino.

Inter coach Christian Chivu speaks at a press conference on the eve of the big match against Napoli at Maradona.
No one is in better form than Inter. The Nerazzurri, coming off 7 consecutive victories in Serie A and Champions League, want to continue their great form in the big match against Napoli. The Maradona challenge, between the top two teams of last season, could determine new power dynamics at the top. Currently, both teams are tied on 15 points in the standings.
The match against Conte’s team also gives Inter a chance to redeem themselves after losing last season’s title to Napoli by just one point. On the eve of the game, Inter coach Christian Chivu spoke at a press conference. Here are his words.
Inter, Chivu’s Words

Match.
“We can’t make comparisons with last year but look at what happened last year: they won the league and we didn’t. The rivalry and ambitions are there.”
Rest Day.
“I don’t need to justify it, it seems normal to me. Sometimes, it’s the best training. We’re coming from a very intense period, it seemed right to take a break and give them a day with their families. I trust their professionalism.”
Can this game shape the season?
“It’s important, we’re only on matchday eight. We understand that a lot is at stake but not everything. We go with conviction and we must be prepared.”
Are you preparing something different?
“I’ve learned that all games should be treated equally to maintain continuity, you can’t afford to consider yourself superior to others or you won’t win. I’ve been in teams where training was harder than the matches but we always had the right attitude.”

“For me, it doesn’t change anything, I have 4 compatible and generous strikers, if I mix them, the team’s performance remains the same. For me, there are no pairs, they have shown they can play together.”
Is it becoming harder to score in Serie A?
“I don’t see a problem, it means teams are well-prepared and so are the coaches. Abroad, there’s less concern about the opponent and more focus on the development of your own team. But it doesn’t mean that Italian football is declining or lagging behind, it’s a different way of interpreting it.”
Napoli is the team that beat them a year ago: is there a desire for revenge?
“I don’t think they have any chips on their shoulders. After Conte, there was Inzaghi and we won the second star and played two Champions League finals. I don’t think facing Conte is an extra motivation, we are Inter.”
Rotations.
“Diouf and Luis Henrique have played less so far but they have room for growth, I don’t consider them ready yet, but it doesn’t mean I haven’t given them the opportunity. Perhaps with many close games, I had less time to listen to them and explain things, but they have quality, I see it every day and there will come a time when they unlock and we’ll see them on the field more often.”

Lazio, injury alert: muscle strain for Tavares?
