The most anticipated match of the eighth round of Serie B was undoubtedly between Palermo and Modena, the top two teams in the league. The credit for this season’s start goes largely to Andrea Sottil, chosen in the summer to lead a completely revamped team. After a very eventful transfer window, with the sale of Palumbo to the rosanero, the third most lucrative in the history of the yellow and blue, and the farewells of veterans like Gagno, Zaro, and Duca, the management focused on experienced players like Zampano, Chichizola, Adorni, and Di Mariano, but also on promising young talents like Zanimacchia, Sersanti, and Pyyhtiä.

Sottil, coming off challenging experiences at Udinese and Sampdoria, with a brief stint at Salernitana, managed to unify the group and give a clear identity to the team. Today, Modena has the best attack and defense in the league, and above all, a newfound awareness.

It’s only the eighth round, but the feeling is clear: with Sottil, Serie A is no longer a dream but a concrete goal.
