The Europa League final, scheduled for Wednesday, May 21, will be between Tottenham and Manchester United. The two English clubs will compete for the trophy at the San Mamés stadium in Bilbao.

Tottenham-Manchester United will be the final of the Europa League. The two English clubs have lived up to expectations from the first leg, and have earned a ticket to the San Mamés stadium in Bilbao, which will host the final stage of the competition. The match will take place on May 21. Including the UEFA Cup, the predecessor of today’s Europa League, the match between Tottenham and Manchester United will be the third final between two English teams. It happened back in 1972, when Tottenham defeated Wolverhampton, and in 2019, when Chelsea beat Arsenal in Baku.

The Spurs are chasing their 3rd victory in the competition, after the aforementioned one in 1972 and the one in 1984. The Red Devils, in their third final since the competition changed its name, aim to bring the 2nd cup of their history to Manchester. In addition to the trophy, the final in Bilbao offers the two teams the opportunity to qualify for the next Champions League. Both teams can redeem a season that has not seen either of them as protagonists in the Premier League. First European final reached for both Postecoglu and Amorim. English football is smiling: next year there will be 6 clubs from across the Channel in the Champions League.

Europa League, Manchester United Shatters Athletic’s Dream

The Red Devils advance to the Europa League final after eliminating Athletic Club. Great disappointment for the Basque club, which must bid farewell to the dream of playing the tournament final at their own stadium, San Mamés. After the 0-3 from the first leg in favor of Manchester United, the English team also dominates at Old Trafford and secures their place in the final. Athletic, without the Williams brothers due to injury, briefly hopes with the opening goal by Jauregizar. In the second half, the Red Devils dominate: Casemiro, Hojlund, and a brace from Mount overturn the result, sealing the match with a final score of 4-1. Manchester United will be the one to play for the trophy at the Basque stadium on May 21.

Tottenham Knocks Out Bodo Glimt’s Fairy Tale

The other finalist, Tottenham, reaches the final of the tournament after eliminating the Norwegian team Bodo Glimt in the semifinals. The team led by Knutesen, a true surprise of the tournament, reached the semifinal after eliminating Lazio in the quarterfinals. After losing 3-1 in the London match, Bodo also falls at the Aspmyra Stadion, in front of their fans. The English team wins 2-0 thanks to goals in the second half by Solanke and Pedro Porro. Bodo Glimt can still take pride in being the first Norwegian club to reach a European semifinal.

The Champions League often brings surprises, but for Athletic Bilbao and Galatasaray it wasn’t the case: both clubs won 3-1.

Champions League, soccer

Champions League, update on the 18:45 matches

Athletic Bilbao-Qarabağ

Although the Spanish club struggled a bit more than expected, they secured a solid 3-1 victory. “Ready, set, go” (quoting Fabri Fibra) and Qarabağ scored in the first minute of the game.

Just a few meters from the goal, one-on-one against Unai Simón, Andrade immediately changed the course of the match with a goal that put the visitors ahead.

Fortunately for Ernesto Valverde, the equalizer came in the 40th minute with a goal from Guruzeta, who has been unimpressive in this early season but aims for a significant comeback tonight (3 goals this season, 2 scored tonight).

Expected goals for the Spaniards were 3.25, but it wasn’t until the 70th minute that Navarro scored a great goal near the post with a powerful shot from outside the box.

Finally, the third and final goal for Bilbao, again from Guruzeta, concluded the match in the 88th minute. A somewhat hard-fought but well-deserved victory for the home team.

Galatasaray-Bodø/Glimt

Galatasaray emulates the Spanish clubs with another 3-1 victory. The Turks now have 6 points in 3 Champions League matches.

Aside from a resounding 5-1 defeat against Frankfurt, they also secured a significant 1-0 victory against Liverpool.

Particularly convincing was tonight’s performance, with Osimhen, who is in great form.

5 goals and 1 assist in the last 4 matches between national team and club, including a crucial brace today.

Both goals came from outside the box, both with the same numbers. The first at the 3rd minute, the second at the 33rd.

Expected goals for Galatasaray were 4.09, with 38% possession. Expected goals for Bodø/Glimt were 1.41, with 62% possession.

Both teams collected less than what they sowed in this match, and despite possession, the rest of the data is clear. 23 shots by the Turks compared to 8 by the Norwegians.

The third and final goal for Galatasaray came with Akgün scoring on the rebound from Haikin in the 60th minute.

For the Norwegians, the consolation goal came in the 75th minute, with Helmersen taking advantage of imperfect coverage by Galatasaray‘s defenders. The match ended 3-1.

Possible line-ups for Genk-Real Betis, a match valid for the 3rd round of the Europa League, which will take place on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at 18:45.

Among the matches scheduled for the third round of the Europa League is Genk-Betis.

The home team hasn’t started their season well as they find themselves currently in mid-table in both the league and Europe. On the other hand, the visitors are in excellent form, with only one defeat in their first 11 matches in all competitions.

Genk

In their last 4 matches at home in both the league and Europa League, Genk have suffered three defeats and managed only one victory. Against Betis, the Belgian club aims to reverse their negative performance so far at home.

To achieve this, coach Thorsten Fink is relying heavily on Oh Hyeon-gyu. In his last two performances, first with the South Korean national team and then with the Belgian club, the 2001-born striker has been in top form, scoring two goals and providing an assist.

Genk-Real Betis

Betis

Betis are on a run of 7 consecutive positive results and have yet to lose an away match in the early stages of the season. In the Europa League, the Spanish club has earned 4 points from a win and a draw.

To continue their positive trend against Genk, coach Manuel Pellegrini will rely on Antony. The Brazilian talent is coming off a spectacular performance in the league against Villarreal, where his personal brace helped his team to draw a match they were losing 2-0 until the 64th minute.

Probable line-ups Genk-Real Betis

Genk (4-2-3-1): van Crombrugge; Nkuba, Sadick, Smets, Kayembe; Bangoura, Heynen; Steuckers, Hrosovsky, Sor; Oh. Coach: Thorsten Fink

Betis (4-3-3): Pau Lopez; Bellerin, Natan, Lopez, Firpo; Roca, Lo Celso, Altimira; Antony, Chucho Hernandez, Ezzalzouli. Coach: Manuel Pellegrini

Where to watch Genk-Real Betis

Genk-Betis, a match valid for the 3rd round of the Europa League, scheduled for Thursday, October 23, 2025 at 18:45, will be broadcast live on Sky and Now.
