Victor Boniface breaks the silence after the failed transfer to Milan, suggesting that there were issues behind the scenes.

Victor Boniface, striker for Bayer Leverkusen who was very close to transferring to Milan, wanted to provide his version of events regarding the failed move to the club on Via Aldo Rossi. The Nigerian center-forward expressed his disappointment in an Instagram story, responding to a user who accused him of not being “serious.”

What did Boniface say about the failed transfer to Milan?

The former Union St.Gilloise player expressed himself in a cryptic language, halfway between broken English and Nigerian slang, but the most accurate translation seems to be as follows: “I play for a club like Bayer Leverkusen and am wanted by another club like Milan, yet you say I am not serious. So, according to this serious reasoning, if I were serious where would I play? In a club on Jupiter? If not being serious I play at this level, well, I’m happy like this” and concluded his rant by stating “I see clowns everywhere…”.

The jab came in response to a message from a user accusing him of “not being serious.” The term “serious” in this context could be translated as “unprofessional.” Essentially, speculations on the web would suggest that the reason for Boniface’s failed transfer to Milan is a result of a “non-athlete lifestyle” that the Nigerian has been living in recently. After a very convincing first year in Germany, Boniface has been sparingly used by Xabi Alonso in the last two seasons.

As confirmed by Bayer Leverkusen’s sporting director, Simon Rolfes, Boniface will return to Leverkusen and the agreement with Milan will not be renegotiated, especially since the Rossoneri are close to acquiring Conrad Harder from Sporting Lisbon. A similar situation occurred at Roma last summer with Danso, when the French center-back failed his medical tests (although there were complications related to heart issues, a sensitive topic in Italy after the cases of Eriksen and Astori) only to then play without problems as a starter for Lens for six months.
